How we grade protocol sources
Every guide states where its protocol information came from. This is separate from the evidence scale used on compound pages: one grades the research behind a compound, the other grades the origin of a specific practical protocol.
Published human study
This protocol is taken from a study that was actually run in people and published.
Clinical trial protocol
Taken from a registered or published trial protocol. Formally specified, though results may not be in yet.
Published preclinical research
Taken from published animal or laboratory work. It was not designed for humans and does not translate directly.
Practitioner-derived
Drawn from clinical practice rather than from a published study. Experience-based, not formally tested.
Commonly referenced
Widely repeated in community and commercial sources without a traceable original study. Repetition is not evidence.
Insufficient sourcing
We could not trace this to a source we are willing to stand behind. Treat it as unverified.
